Bulgarian Jewry - Collection of Photographs, Certificates and Paper items. The first half of the 20th century


An important collection of some 70 paper details - Bulgarian Jewry in the first half of the 20th century.


* 16 photographs showing a Jew who served in the Bulgarian army during World War I during his military service. In the photographs, he is seen in soldier's clothing alongside other soldiers, and alongside his family - an important collection in itself. (The Kingdom of Bulgaria fought in World War I from October 14, 1915 to September 29, 1918 alongside the Central Powers. Bulgarian Jews enlisted en masse in the army and in effect all the public life of the Jewish community that was in bloom during King Ferdinand's reign). as well as other photographs of Bulgarian Jews.

* Certificates of excellence of Jews in various occupations.

* A client account holder of a Jewish business owner.

* Certificates (Member's certificate in the Chamber of Commerce, passports, entry permits, and other certificates), certificates and documents of families: Madanovitz, lazarof, Levy, Ronel, and other families.

* Interesting document on behalf of the Bulgarian Jewish Home Association: "We hereby confirm that all Bulgarian Jews over the age of 10, from 1942 to 9/9/44, had to wear a yellow Star of David on their lapels and were restricted by national law'.

* Wooden miniature folder containing a chain of photographs depicting cities and sites in Bulgaria.

* Letters sent from Bulgarian Jews to their family members or friends - Bulgarian.

* Various official documents from the State of Israel of Bulgarian immigrants who arrived in Israel, including personal details, and various positions.

Attached is the rare booklet "Back Home" - Jewish sources in Bulgaria from the first temple to the end of World War II - Typewritten printing, limited edition. 'Shahr' print - Rehovot.

The collection has not been thoroughly examined.  general condition good.
