The Work of Flavius JOSEPHUS translated into English by Sir ROGER L'ESTRANGE Six volumes in one, in which a selection of Flavius writings were arranged (the Antiquities of the Jews, the Wars of the Jews with the Romans, the Life of Joseph, Against apiyon and Addition: The Sanctification of the Maccabees Philo of Alexandria), are translated accurately by the famous translator Roger Lestrange (1616-1704), an interesting figure in itself (political propagandist and warrior side royalists in the English Civil War in the 17th century).
The book includes maps of the Land of Israel, a folded map of Israel's journeys from Egypt and a folded map of Old Jerusalem, a folded map of the Temple of Solomon. Engravings of Temple vessels, priestly garments, and more.
Precede title page wooden engravings of biblical scenes, portraits of Titus and aspasian emperors of Rome, a portrait of Flavius and portrait of the translator.
