"תביין דלחסאב דלהלולה דצדיק רבי נדיאל אשכנזי הנקרא השומר זיע"א" - A rare poster detailing the total expenses of Rabbi Daniel Hashomer's hilula, published by the "Committee for the Righteous Rabbi Daniel Hashomer". Morocco 1946. Jewish - Arabic.


In the town of Togana in the Atlas Mountains. Not far from the city of Marrakesh standing the grave of one of the most revered Kdoshim of Moroccan Jews - Rabbi Daniel Hashomer Ashkenazi. according to tradition Rabbi Daniel's origin is from Eretz Israel. and arrived in Morocco in an ancient period (it is not known exactly when). The date of Rabbi Daniel's death was unknown. And the day of hilula is set for Rosh Chodesh Elul. Every year on this date the Jews of Morocco would make the "ziara" - the ascent to the tomb of the tzaddik. Crowds from all over Morocco flocked to the great event. Scholars and common people, rich and poor to celebrate Rabbi Daniel's feast to pray and be saved in all their affairs. The custom was to bring with them foods, meat, sheep and cows, and they would distribute the foods and meat among the poor. Rabbi Daniel Hashomer became famous as a saint and miracle worker - and many miracles were associated with his name, many sick people who came to prostrate themselves at his grave returned home healthy and intact. Moreover, the Muslims also adored Rabbi Daniel and would come with their sick to be healed by him. In Moroccan Jewish tradition it is known that once a Muslim sheikh came with his sick son. And ask the Jews to pray for his safety. The sheikh held a sum of money in his hand and said - "If my son is cured now, I will distribute all the money to the poor." The Jews prayed for the safety of the  son that got better, and the sheikh distribute the money he brought with him to the poor.
