A rare photograph from the day of the liberation of the Buchenwald death camp - April 1945

A rare photograph showing inmates of the Buchenwald death camp cheering on the day of their release, next to a photograph of Stalin. Described and dated on the back in handwriting: "Liberation of the Buchenwald death camp, April 11, 1945".

The Soviet soldiers themselves were also the ones who liberated Majdanek and Auschwitz death camps.
