Pair Antique Shelby Carbon Light Bulbs - This lot includes a pair of early 20th-century antique carbon filament incandescent light bulbs manufactured by The Shelby Electric Co. in Shelby, Ohio. Designed with Adolphe Chaillet’s patented coiled carbon filament construction, these early hand-blown glass lamps feature heavy brass bases with ceramic/porcelain bottom insulators and intact paper labels marked ”The Shelby Electric Co., Shelby, O., U.S.A.” Both interior carbon filaments remain continuous and unbroken. One bulb features clear glass, bright brass, and a vivid pinkish-red paper label, while the other bulb exhibits light interior smoky carbon deposition on the upper interior surface from historic operation, tarnish/patina to the brass housing, and mild darkening on the label.
