Lincoln-Bartlett Tuxedo Coat for Women - Lincoln Bartlett Company was famous for being a high end maker of custom clothing for both men and women. It was at 46 Jackson boulevard, Chicago between 1899 and 1907, before moving elsewhere. This is a floor length, wool, tuxedo style custom made coat. Think Marlene Dietrich. It was illegal to cross dress in both the United States and Europe at the time but this coat would cover up whatever you were wearing underneath. Certainly cross dressing balls were going on. This coat would be absolutely beautiful if the collar were replaced and it were dry cleaned.
