Box Lot of 19th Century Dandies Vest, Etc. - This lot consists of 15 pieces of impossible to find men's vests, suspenders, sock garters and ascots from 1856-1890's. The vests are slightly padded in the chest to enhance the male physique. Made from the finest cloth of the day. There are velvets, and silks. The brown velvet vest has incredible ornate goldstone buttons. The men who wore these clothes were called ”Dandies” and were the height of fashion and respectability. Hand written note inside the vest, with pen and ink, states the owners name and year Jol J Jacobe 1856. 2 others have handwritten notes with the years 1890's. Linings are stained otherwise, in very good condition.
