Bidspirit auction | 2 Sets Wood Movie Theater

2 Sets Wood Movie Theater Seats Moshulu Bronx NY - Featured is a pair of antique double-unit wooden folding theater seats originating from the historic Mosholu Theatre in the Bronx, New York. Mosholu (pronounced mah-SHOO-loo), named after Mosholu Parkway and Mosholu Avenue in the Bronx—terms derived from the Native American Lenape word for ”smooth stones.” Constructed in a classic early 20th-century style with slatted backs and folding seat panels, both double-seat sections are built of solid hardwood finished in a dark brown stain. They fold flat for storage. The venue opened in March 1926 on East 204th Street near Bainbridge Avenue and operated for decades as a premier neighborhood cinema before later being renamed the Bainbridge Theatre. The theater has closed since, but the structure still stands. Physical condition shows expected age-appropriate wear including finish loss, surface scuffs, and scratches throughout; notably, one seat in the front unit is missing a single wooden slat. H 34”, W 37”, D 21”. Please see photos for condition. Note: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available Post-Auction.
