The fully assembled version of this firearm includes an exceptionally rare Pecare & Smith 10-Shot, .28 caliber percussion pepperbox pistol, manufactured in New York, circa 1849-1850, stamped ”PATENT 1849”, features a smooth, cylinder-like outer metal shroud that fully encloses the barrel cluster, intricate hand-engraved scrolling floral motifs, fitted with aged bag-shaped grip scales, a folding, ring-less trigger system flush against the frame to create a streamlined profile, beautifully preserved commercial firearm featuring premium factory upgrades, smooth shroud, aged grey, muted patina, minor surface speckling, light oxidation, no signs of pitting, factory-engraved scrollwork crisp, deep and un-rubbed by excessive polishing, original screws, minor slot wear, aged grip, mellow yellow coloration, flush-fit panels, natural microscopic grain lines, minor hairline age cracks near bottom edge, perfectly typical and expected, trigger secure, exceptionally well-preserved and visually balanced on both profiles, see photos. 8” x 1 5/8” A true mechanical work of art from the New York Gold Rush era!
