WWII German Waffen-SS Officer or NCO Visor Cap - WWII German Waffen-SS Officer or NCO Visor Cap (Schirmmutze) with Visor and Pink Piping. Fair condition, with burn holes from ammunition. The insignia present include the Nazi Party national emblem (Hoheitszeichen or Parteiadler) which is an eagle clutching a swastika over a Totenkopf (skull and crossbones). The rose-pink trim is for the Panzer divisions. The SS briefly authorized branch colored piping on peaked caps for about 6 months in 1940. Nameplate inside the cap reads Leut. Alois Kalss over 8 Komp/ii Abt/Rgt 2 (8th Company II Battalion 2nd SS Panzer Regiment, the notorious 2nd SS Panzer Division “Das Reich”). Kalss (18Feb1920-02May1945 killed in action age 25) was a Tiger 1 tank ace in the Waffen-SS during WWII eventually receiving the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross (Ritterkreuz) and a tally of over 42 confirmed enemy tank kills. Kalss was a member of this division before commanding the 1st Company of the Heavy SS Panzer Battalion 102 during Normandy. He finished the war as an SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer (Captain). 10” front to back, 7” across, 6” deep. Please see photos.
