ASMIC was founded 1937 and it is 1 of the oldest and largest organizations in the world dedicated to collecting military patches, badges, medals, and rank insignia. 8” long, 2.25” wide. 2. Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Award Medal. Good condition, ribbon shows signs of wear. Has GOOD CITIZENSHIP The DAR established this program to encourage and reward individuals who demonstrate exceptional qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism within their schools and communities. The fraternal organization originally founded as the Sons of Veterans is the official congressionally chartered successor to the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR, dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of the soldiers who fought to preserve the Union during the American Civil War. Top bar has: FILII CETERANORUM (Sons of Veterans). The front of the medal has GRATIA DEI SERVATUS (Saved by the Grace of God) and MDCCCLXXXL for 1881. The central monogram SV is for Sons of Veterans. The back has FILII VETERANORUM (Sons of Veterans), the SV monogram is also present on the back. 3” long, 1.5” wide. 4. Membership Badge Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW). Medal and bar good condition, ribbon torn. On the back is the official seal of the National Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (ASUVCW). The Auxiliary was originally organized in 1883 as the Ladies Aid Society to assist the Sons of Union Veterans in their patriotic work.
