WWII Luftwaffe 1st Model Officer Sword & Scabbard - This 1st Model Luftwaffe Officer’s sword is a striking example of early Third Reich aviation regalia, featuring the characteristic ”winged” crossguard and sunburst swastika medallions on both the guard and pommel. The blade is produced by the renowned firm SMF (Solinger Metallwarenfabrik) of Solingen, evidenced by the clear ”Seated King” maker mark. The grip is wrapped in dark blue leather with a tight wire twist, complemented by a matching blue leather-covered scabbard with nickel-silver plated fittings and dual suspension rings. Condition is consistent with age; the leather on the grip and scabbard shows light scuffing and minor finish loss, while the metal components exhibit a natural aged patina and some surface oxidation on the scabbard throat and chape. The blade remains bright with minor runner marks and surface spotting. H 35”, W 5”, D 1”. Please see photos for condition.
