Assorted Medals- 4 Belgian, 1 Thai - 1. Belgian Prisoner Escapees' Cross (in French Croix des Evades, in Dutch Kruis der Ontsnapten). Good condition. A WWII campaign decoration officially instituted 25Feb1944 by the exiled Belgian government in London. Presented to Belgian citizens and military personnel who successfully escaped from German occupied territories, concentration camps, or prisoner of war camps during WWII to join the resistance forces or the Allied armies. 3.75” long, 1,5” wide. 2. Victory Medal for the Vietnam War. Good condition. Issued by the Kingdom of Thailand authorized for military personnel who served during major operations with this variant being awarded to Thai Armed Forces and allied personnel (such as select South Vietnamese and US Forces) serving during the Vietnam War campaign 1964-1973. Text on the back translated to English from Thai is We fight for the honor of Thailand. 4” long, 1.5” wide. 3. Commemorative Medal of the 1940-1945 War (Medaille Commemorative de la Guerre 1940-45). Good condition. Military decoration established by the Kingdom of Belgium by royal decree 16Feb1945 by the Prince Regent of Belgium. Awarded to members of the Belgian Armed Forces and the Merchant Navy who served on the Allied side 10May1940-07May1945. There is a ribbon device of a crossed sabres (swords) emblem which indicates the recipient saw active combat service the 1940 campaign or fought within the armed resistance. Text on the back is present in both French (Wallonia) and Dutch (Flanders) for both of Belgium's national languages: French-MEDAILLE COMMEMORATIVE DE LA GUERRE 1940-1945 (Commemorative Medal of the 1940-1945 War); Dutch-HERINNERINGSMEDAILLE VAN DEN OORLOG 1940-1945 (Remembrance Medal of the War 1940-1945). 3.75” long, 1.75” wide. 4. The small bar on the ribbon denotes a captivity bar signifying the duration the recipient spent in imprisonment (typically 1 bar per year of captivity. In this case it appears to be 4 years. 4” long, 1.75” wide. 5. Belgian POW Medal 1949-1945 (French: Medaille du Prisonnier de Guerre 1940-1945; Dutch: Krijgsgevangenemedaille 1940-1945). Good condition. A military decoration instituted 20Oct1947, awarded to members of the Belgian Armed Forces who were captured and held as POW by Axis forces during WWII.
