Delegate Badges-Veterans Assoc, WRC, GAR - 1. WWI 32nd Infantry Division Veterans Association 3rd Reunion Badge 1922. Good Condition. The 32nd Division is nicknamed the ”Red Arrow” Division was a National Guard unit composed of soldiers from Wisconsin and Michigan. The top bar has Stimpson Fred on it. Fred Stimpson served as a 2nd Lieutenant within the Headquarters Company of the 121st Field Artillery an integral component of the 57th Field Artillery Brigade which fought alongside the 32nd Red Arrow Infantry Division throughout campaigns in France, The ribbon has Madison, August 27,28, 29, 1922 on it. The medallion features the Wisconsin State Capitol Building in Madison with an overlaying Red Arrow piercing a line signifying that the division pierced every enemy line it faced during the war. The 32nd was the 1st American division to pierce Germany's Hindenburg Line and spent more days in active combat than nearly any other unit during WWII. Markings on the back are MANUFACTURED BY ROBBINS COMPANY FOR O.M. NELSON & SON MADISON WISCONSIN. 4.25” long, 2” wide. 2. US Spanish War Veterans (USWV) Department of Wisconsin Delegate Badge. Good condition, some wear on ribbon. Top bar has Delegate, Roy Kelso. Letters are faded on ribbon, appear to be 19th Annual Encampment Wisconsin VFW Sheboygan June 10-?, 1940. Medal text is 78th Annual Encampment Appleton Wis. 1944. This was a fraternal organization for veterans who served in the US military during the Spanish American War, the Philippine American War, and the China Relief Expedition. 5” long, 2” wide. 3. 1930 American Legion Department of Wisconsin Annual Convention Badge. Good condition. Circular emblem on the ribbon is the seal of the American Legion. The text on the ribbon is 12th Annual Convention for the Dept. of Wisconsin in Sheboygan 18-19Aug1930. The top bar has Fred Stimpson, Green Bay. Captain Fred Stimpson was a real person from Green Bay who was actively involved in local organizations at that time. He was likely representing Green Bay Sullivan-Wallen Post 11. Top of medal says Sheboygan, bottom says SHE-BOY-AGAIN. The phrase refers to a folk etymology joke regarding how the city of Sheboygan Wisconsin got its name. A local ghter after fathering a long string of sons. WHen his wife gave birth again and seeing that it was another male the Chief said ” She's a boy again”! However, the name Sheboygan drives from a Chippewa / Ojibwe word jibaigan which likely translates to a passage or waterway between lakes referencing the Sheboygan River's use as a canoe route. Maker's mark on the back and on the medal is WHITEHEAD-HOAG for The Whitehead & Hoag Company of Newark NJ. 6.25” long, 2” wide. 4. 9th 1927 Annual American Legion Convention Badge. Good condition. Held in Marinette Wisconsin 1927. Top bar has delegate with Fred R. Stimpson Green Bay in handwriting. The ribbon text is Annual Convention American Legion (originally chartered 1919 by WWI veterans). The medallion has a profile of a WWI soldier wearing a M9-1917 :Doughboy” helmet. Maker's mark on the back of the medallion is THE WHIITEHEAD & HOAG CO. NEWARK NJ founded 1892. 5” long, 2” wide. 5. 1932 American Legion Convention Delegate Badge / Medal. Good condition. Issued for the 14th Annual Convention of the Department of Wisconsin in La Crosse Wisconsin in 1932. Pendant shaped like a Greek cross circular text wrapped arounf the emblem reads 14th Annual Convention - Dept. of Wisconsin - La Crosse 1932. American Legion founded in 1919 after WWI,is a federally chartered wartime veterans organization. Text in bar is WHITEHEAD-HOAG NEWARK NJ (founded in 1892 by Benjamin S. Whitehead and Chester R. Hoag) backwards. The same stamp is on the bar forward on the back. It is double marked with the maker's mark also on the back of the medallion. 4” long, 2” wide. 6. 1883 Women's Relief Corps (WRC) National Membership Badge. Good condition. Established July1883 as the official ladies' auxiliary to the Grand Army of he Republic (GAR) a fraternal organization for Union veterans of the Civil War. Top bar has FCL intertwined for the organization's core m otto: Fraternity, Charity, and Loyalty. Markings on the back are PATENTED MAY 4 AND SEPT 28 1886. These dates correspond to the design and utility patents issued by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the official WRC insignia. 3” long, 1.5” wide. 7. WWI Local Veteran Service Welcome Home Medal. Good condition. Commonly referred to as a ”They Shall Not Pass” recognition medal. This medal says THEY DID NOT PASS. This is a local municipality or county service medal. This medal was issued by the City of Green Bay. 2.75” long, 1.75” wide. Please see photos.
