WWII Japanese Signed Good Luck Flag USGI Bringback - This World War II Japanese Good Luck Flag, or Yosegaki Hinomaru, represents a classic textile artifact of the Pacific Theater. Historically presented to departing soldiers, these flags served as deeply personal talismans inscribed with handwritten kanji messages of good fortune, patriotism, names, and well-wishes from family, friends, and community members. Constructed of a lightweight cotton body featuring a central red sun, the flag is finished with original leather reinforcing corner tabs and cord ties for mounting. The condition exhibits visible signs of long-term storage and wartime age, including prominent folding creases, a smoke odor, various fabric tears, and a period repair near the center red sun.
