9. Navy Insignia / Cap Pins - 1 US WWI War Service Shipbuilding Badge. Good condition. When the US entered WWI it faced a severe shortage of merchant and transport vessels. To combat this the federal government established the Emergency Fleet Corporation (EFC) under the US Shipping Board to rapidly construct a massive merchant fleet. These badges were issued to home front laborers for security and entry to shipyards and to recognize the civilian workers. Text on the front includes WAR SERVICE SHIP BUILDING and the letters USA across the bottom. There is a number on the back 43391 for the employee's ID. 2.25” long, 1.75” wide. 2. US Navy (USN) Enlisted Cap Insignia Pin. Good condition. Nicknamed the ”Eagle Crow” due to the design of the perched eagle. Markings on back GI UT for government issued and GI for manufacturer codes starting in the mid-1960s. UT is for the maker's mark Urschel Tool Corporation. The is likely a post-Vietnam era piece produced late 1970s-1990s. 1.25” long, 1.25” wide. 3. US Navy Fouled Anchor Insignia Pin. Good condition, missing 1 clutch. Traditionally worn by Midshipmen at the US Naval Academy (USNA) or Officer Candidates on their service dress headwear and uniforms. Fouled refers to the rope or chain wrapping around the anchor shank, while a fouled anchor is a sailor's nightmare at sea it has been an official maritime symbol of rank, trials, and achievement since the 1800s. This pin appears to be from WWII to Vietnam. The maker's mark on the back is VANGUARD and the military certification code V-21-N for the manufacturer Vanguard Industries and the code is assigned to Vanguard and indicates this pin is from the mid-1960s-mid-1970s.2” long, 1.25” wide. 4. Fouled Anchor Insignia. Good condition. Uniform rank insignia used by the USN for Chief Petty Officers, Midshipmen, or Aviation Cadets as well as international maritime and royal naval forces. However, this appears to be a charm. 2” long, 1.25” wide. 5. Miniature Model of an Admiralty Pattern Anchor (Kedge Anchor). Good condition. Features a movable stock (crossbar) and shackle mechanism. US Navy Petty Officer (CPO, E-7) Cap / Badge Insignia Pin. Good condition. Features a fouled anchor with USN across the center shank. The fouled anchor serves as a reminder of the CPO's duty to guide sailors and solve seemingly impossible problems under extreme pressure. U - Unity binding the crew together, S - Service to God and country, N - Navigation guiding subordinates safely. Maker's mark on the back under the pin is Pancraft suggesting it is from the interwar period through WWII. Based on the pin it is from the late 1930s or early WWII era (1938-1942). 1.75” long, 1.25” wide. 7. US Navy Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Cap Device / Insignia Pin. Good condition. Anchor represents hope. Fouled rope wrapped around the anchor symbolizes daily trials, tribulations, and complex challenges that a CPO must face and overcome. USN - US Navy, U - Unity binding the chain of organization together, S - Service to God, country, and fellow sailors, N - Navigation guiding subordinates through their careers and duties. This appears to be from WWI-early 1920s era. 1.75” long, 1.25” wide. 8. US Navy Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Cap Insignia Pin. Good condition. This appears to be a WWII piece. Per naval uniform regulations of the era this pin was worn precisely 2” from the front crease and 1.5” from the bottom edge of the cap's left curtain. 1,25” long, 1” wide. 9. US Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer (E-8) Rank Insignia. Good condition. Maker's mark on the back is V-21-N for Vanguard Industries, the N indicates a production date of 1974 or later, the V-21 indicates this pin ranges from the late Cold War era to recent service. Pin has ball-top butterfly clutches (dammit fasteners or squeeze clutches). 1.75” long, 0.75” wide. Please see photos.
