WWI Named Doughboy Meat Can, ID Tags, Statue, Wow! - An exceptional, highly documented World War I personal archive belonging to Private 1st Class Albert W. Dinger of the U.S. Army Medical Department (ID #13717). This unified collection features his heavily engraved Model 1910 aluminum mess kit (meat can) etched across nearly every surface with service chronologies (1917–1919), AEF medical postings (Hospital Train No. 20, Neufchâteau, Gievres), patriotic imagery, and detailed numerical tallies recording 21,964 wounded soldiers and prisoner counts. The lot includes his paired original aluminum dog tags on neck cord, M1910 cutlery set marked A.C.Co. U.S. 1917 with hand-scratched initials, handwritten reference notes, and a mess/berth pass for the troop transport ship R.M.S. Carmania (famous for sinking the SMS Cap Trafalgar in 1914). Completing the archive is a 1920 plaster statue modeled after E.M. Viquesney's ”The Spirit of the American Doughboy,” marked Spencer, Ind. Metal items, tags, and paperwork remain in very good historical condition with light, natural age patina.
