French Model 1831 Artillery Sword & Scabbard - This French Model 1831 Foot Artillery Short Sword, nicknamed the ”coupe-choux,” features a solid cast brass hilt with a 26-ring ribbed grip and concentric circle crossguard quillons bearing an oval inspection stamp. The 19 1/8-inch double-edged steel blade measures 1.75 inches wide at the ricasso and is stamped with the ”TALABOT Fs / PARIS” maker mark beneath a starred oval inspector poinçon. It comes complete with its original 19.75-inch black leather scabbard featuring a 2-inch width, 1-inch thickness, and fitted brass mounts. The blade exhibits light runner wear and surface scratching, while the brass hilt retains a natural age patina, and the leather scabbard shows light surface scuffing while remaining structurally sound.
