WWII German POLIZEI Garment LODZ - Dark blue wool garment features contrasting blue piping along the collar and cuffs, polished metal buttons, a dark synthetic interior lining with remnants of a collar tag, and interior size and production stampings reading ”Mdl 48-1” and ”C/2” on the left side lining. Applied across the jacket are various hand and machine-stitched insignia, including a yellow ”Polizei” star badge on the chest, a yellow rectangular patch, a black-and-white striped sleeve band featuring a Star of David and the inscription ”Jude” with identification numbers, a lower sleeve band marked ”LODZ”, and a large Star of David patch affixed to the upper back. Under UV blacklight examination, the Star of David elements, the collar tag remnants, and the stitching on the armband affixing it to the coat sleeve all exhibit fluorescence, while the background fabric scraps and inner back panel do not. The physical condition reflects age-appropriate wear, fabric fading, handling marks, and raw-edged stitching on the applied elements. H 30”, W 24”, D 20”.
