WWII German Infantry Assault Badge - WWII German Infantry Assault Badge (Infanterie-Strumabzeichen). Good condition. Established 20Dec1939 by Generalfeldmarschall Walther von Brauchitsch. Designed by Berlin firm C.E. Juncker. Awarded to infantry soldiers who took part in at least 3 distinct combat assaults or frontline engagements on separate days. Silver Class was awarded to traditional foot infantry and mountain troops (Gebirgsjager). Bronze Class was instituted on 01June1940 for motorized and mechanized infantry units (Panzergrenadiers). Back indicates this is a solid back zinc variation manufactured by Sohni, Heubach & Co. (SHuCo) over 41 (produced by the firm based in Idar-Oberstein Germany. 2.5” long, 2” wide. Please see photos.
