Civil War M1864 US Watervliet Arsenal Pouch - Civil War-era US Model 1864 cartridge pouch. Hand-crafted at the famed Watervliet Arsenal in New York, it features a heavy black bridle leather construction with a prominent embossed ”US” in an oval on the outer flap. The interior retains the original wool fleece lining designed to protect contents from moisture. Remarkably, the leather remains exceptionally pliable and ”live” to the touch, a rare find for equipment of this vintage. While the ”Watervliet Arsenal” stamp on the reverse is quite faint, it confirms its military provenance. The item exhibits age-appropriate surface crazing, some minor finish loss, and verdigris oxidation on the brass hardware, though it remains structurally sound with intact stitching.
