WWII Medals (6) UK, GCM, USAF - 1. British 1939-1945 Star. Good condition in heavy plastic sleeve. Military campaign medal awarded to British and Commonwealth forces for operational service during WWII. To qualify for this star service members generally had to meet strict time frame and operational criteria 03Sep1939-08May1945 (Europe) or 02Sep1945 (Pacific). Army and Navy 180 days (6 months) of active operational service or service afloat in designated combat zones; Aircrew 60 days (2 months) of operational flying service with an active unit including at least 1 operational sortie. Requirement was waived if service member was killed in action (KIA), wounded, captured as a prisoner of war (POW), or awarded a gallantry decoration. This medal appears to have been issued to a service member from the UK, Canada, or New Zealand. Medal 4.25” long, 1.5” wide; sleeve 4.75” long,2.25” wide. 2. US Army Good Conduct Medal. Good condition, in thin plastic sleeve. 1st established 28June1941 by Executive Order 8809 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to exclusively award enlisted military personnel who distinguish themselves through exemplary behavior, efficiency, and fidelity over 3 years of active service, peacetime service, or 1 year during wartime. Medal 2.75” long, 1.5” wide, Card 4” long, 2.25:” wide, in sleeve 5” long, 3.25” wide. 3. US Air Force (USAF) Good Conduct Medal. Good condition in thin plastic sleeve. Awarded to enlisted members of the USAF who demonstrate exemplary behavior, efficiency, and fidelity over a continuous 3 year period of active military service. Medal 3” long, 1.5” wide; Card 4” long, 2” wide; Sleeve 6” long, 3” wide. 4. European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. Good condition in thin sleeve. Military award of the US Armed Forces established 06Nov1942 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to recognize US military personnel who performed duty in the European Theater including North Africa and the Middle East during WWII. To earn this medal a service member typically had to serve at least 30 consecutive days (or 60 non-consecutive days) in the designated geographic theater 07Dec9141-08Nov1945. Medal 3” long, 1.5” wide Card 4” long, 2” wide, Sleeve 6” long, 3” wide. 5. WWII Victory Medal. Good condition in thin plastic sleeve. Authorized by an Act of Congress 06July1945. Awarded to any member of the US Armed Forces including active duty or reserve pesonnel who served 07Dec1941-31Dec1946. Designed by sculptor Thomas Hudson Jones. Inscription on back”Freedom from Fear and Want” and :Freedom of Speech and Religion”. Medal 3” long, 1.5” wide, Card 4” long, 2” wide, Sleeve 6” long, 3” wide. 6. Navy Expeditionary Medal. Good condition in heavy plastic sleeve, Authorized 05Aug1936, designed by sculptor Adolph Alexander Weinman. While formalized in 1936 eligibility was backdated to 12Feb1874 to cover historical operations. Bestowed upon Navy officers and enlisted personnel who landed on foreign territory and engaged in armed operations against armed opposition, also granted for missions meriting special recognition where no other campaign medal had been authorized.
