WWII Polish Forces Major Uniform Set - World War II era Polish Forces in Exile style officer uniform group, representing a Major within the armored cavalry or motorized units. Coat is a US military officer's four-pocket wool service tunic and matching dress trousers (tagged size W-38 L-31), with Polish military insignia. The tunic features polished Polish eagle buttons, red ”POLAND” shoulder titles, sewn-on collar insignia, and ribbon bar highlighted by the prestigious Virtuti Militari, Cross of Valour, and British Defence Medal. Accompanying the uniform is a tan leather Sam Browne belt mounted with a pre-war enamel Polish State Sports Badge (POS) pin, alongside a US-contract garrison cap by Mound City Cap Mfg. Co., dated March 14, 1942, outfitted with a matching Polish hat eagle and officer rank insignia. This un-named uniform wool components exhibit minor surface wear, light lint, and expected storage creasing, with scattered moth nips present on the coat and distinct fading evident where the pocket flaps and lapel flaps overlap the unfaded areas, including beneath the chest ribbons. Blacklight testing shows no glow on any component of the uniform or cap, with the exception of a single ribbon on the chest bar which exhibits fluorescence.
