US Military -Army, Vols, Navy Brass Buttons (19) - This historical collection features nineteen 19th-century military buttons from premier American makers like Scovill and Waterbury. The lot is anchored by nine General Service Eagle buttons (3/4” diameter) by Scovill Manufacturing Co. of Waterbury, CT. Also included is a rare pair of U.S. Navy buttons (5/8” diameter) bearing the ”A.P. Davis PATT NOV 20th 1888” mark, alongside five Massachusetts Volunteer Militia buttons by the W. Button Company. Completing the set are three U.S. Eagle buttons, including two 5/8” versions by Waterbury and one 3/4” version by Scovill. Notably, these are not ”dug” specimens; they lack the pitted corrosion of excavated items. While they carry a rich, authentic patina and minor verdigris, the embossed details remain remarkably crisp and present very well.
