Antique Military Socket Bayonet Trio - This assembly features three 19th-century socket bayonets, including a notable cruciform-style blade on the specimen in the poorest condition. While triangular blades were standard for most infantry muskets, the cruciform (four-sided) profile is typically associated with specific European designs, such as French or Russian patterns, engineered for extreme rigidity. The specimen paired with the leather scabbard is in the best relative condition, retaining cleaner metal surfaces and a more defined profile. The remaining two are in ”relic” condition, exhibiting heavy, deep pitting and a thick chocolate-brown oxidation throughout. Mechanically, one locking ring remains functional, one is seized, and the cruciform example is missing its ring entirely. The largest and most pitted example is 21-3/4” in length. Frozen locking ring example is 21-1/4” long and the nicest, with the scabbard is 20-1/2” long. The leather scabbard shows significant desiccation and surface loss but remains a vital piece of field-gear provenance. Longest example dimensions: 21-3/4”. Please see photos.
