Historic US Veteran & Marksman Medal Group - This grouping of three historic medals offers a compelling look at American military and commemorative history from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The centerpiece is a bronze National Indian War Veterans Maltese cross, hallmarked by the St. Louis Button Co. on the reverse and featuring its original, though heavily frayed, red and black striped ribbon with a ”VETERAN” top bar. Accompanying it is a detailed marksman’s ”ladder” badge, showcasing a soldier's progression with bars for ”Distinguished,” ”Sharpshooter,” ”Expert,” and ”Five Years” spanning 1891–1896. The third piece is a silver-tone medal depicting Abraham Lincoln, issued for the April 24, 1918, rededication of the Lincoln Tomb in Springfield, Illinois. All items show an authentic, aged patina; the Indian War ribbon has significant wear and fraying, while the metal components across all three pieces exhibit minor surface oxidation, light scratches, and some finish loss on the award bars.
