19th-Century Military Tintype 1/4 Plate - This mid-19th-century quarter-plate ambrotype captures a bearded soldier wearing a tall, plumed shako hat in a uniform complete with a sword, preserved beneath glass within a decorative gilt mat and an intricate molded frame. The physical condition exhibits a crack in the frame on the upper left corner that radiates down the back into the rear back panel, alongside a small loss of the image from the backing right next to the sword, though these flaws do not compromise the overall integrity of the photographic plate itself.
