Korean War Era U.S. Military M-1951 Flak Jacket - This vintage U.S. Military M-1951 fragmentation protective body armor vest, colloquially known as a ”flak jacket,” represents a significant advancement in Korean War-era soldier protection. Constructed from heavy-duty olive drab nylon with internal layers of laminated nylon shards, this specific example features the characteristic button-down front flap, adjustable side laces, and a groin protector attachment. The interior markings show a ”FOLD” instructional stencil and a heavily faded contract label, though a visible ”51” likely denotes the 1951 pattern year. The item exhibits moderate to heavy field use, including significant fading and fraying to the interior labels, some surface staining, and oxidation on the metal snap fasteners and eyelets.
