WWI Match Safe, WWII German Canteen - This lot includes a German-issued military field canteen paired with a brass match safe. The canteen features a spun aluminum body enveloped in a wool cover secured with a stitched seam, held by a leather harness strap with a spring clip marked SC 38th on the interior. The canteen cap is stamped SMM 39, lacking its attachment chain. The brass match safe features an embossed crown design with the inscription GOTT MIT UNS. The items exhibit honest field wear: the buttons are extremely corroded, the wool material is fairly complete with some losses, and the wool cover features post-or-period re-sewn stitching repairs.
