WWI Patriotic Picture Frame and Trench Art Ashtray - WWI Judd / Grey Iron Co. Cast Iron Patriotic Picture Frame A World War I cold-painted cast iron military photo frame, produced circa 1917–1920. Features a raised mold/pattern number ”9443” on the upper reverse header, characteristic of leading early 20th-century foundries such as H.L. Judd Co. or Grey Iron Casting Co. The frame is decorated in relief with rich American military iconography, including a spread-winged eagle crest, crossed carbines/receivers, coastal artillery cannons, bugles, a snare drum, and colorized stars and stripes. Retains good original polychrome accents (red, white, blue, and metallic finishes) alongside light oxidation, patina, and age-appropriate finish wear. Complete with original fold-out easel support and brass photo retaining clips. Overall Dimensions: 6 1/2” W x 9 1/4” H x 4 1/4” D. Holds a standard 3 1/4” W x 5” H photograph. WWI French 75mm Trench Art Shell Ashtray & Match Holder An authentic World War I brass trench art desk piece repurposed from the base of a French 75mm artillery shell casing. The ordnance bottom features crisp factory headstamp markings including ”75 SA”, ”TEF”, and ”MA 12.10” (indicating a December 1910 shell casing manufacture). The casing has been fitted with a central upright rod ending in a dual spring-clip matchbook/matchbox holder, set within an ashtray basin with notched cigarette rests. Exhibits an uncleaned aged brass patina with minor surface tarnish and light oxidation consistent with period field/desktop use. Dimensions: 4 1/4” Base Diameter x 8 1/4” Overall Height.
