Instituted by Adolf Hitler 28Sep1941, awarded for repeated acts of exceptional bravery or outstanding achievement in combat. Ranked higher than the Iron Cross 1st Class but below the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross. Due to its shape and layout Allied soldiers and recipients referred to it as “Hitler’s Fried Egg” or the “Party Badge for the Shortsighted”. 2.5” diameter. Please see photos.
