Antique Boys' Brigade Pettibone Forage Cap - This late 19th- to early 20th-century forage cap features dark blue wool construction, a leather visor with a bound edge, and brass side buttons marked ”B. B.” for the Boys' Brigade with an anchor motif. A detailed brass cap badge mounted to the front displays crossed rifles overlaid with a fouled anchor and the letters ”B” and ”B” on flanking shields. The interior retains a period quilted tan fabric lining printed with a diamond-shaped maker's mark reading ”Military & Society Goods / The Pettibone Mfg. Co. / Cincinnati, O. U.S.A.,” identifying it as youth paramilitary uniform headgear produced in Ohio during the late Victorian to turn-of-the-century period. The cap exhibits heavy age and wear, including severe moth damage and loss of wool along the lower front band exposing the orange-brown buckram stiffener, general fabric fading, light surface lint and dirt, and minor crazing and surface wear to the leather visor, while the brass hardware and maker's label remain intact and well-preserved.
