Civil War / Indian Wars Style U.S. Army Forage Cap - Fine vintage dark blue/indigo wool U.S. Army style forage cap, constructed with a slouched body, flat circular crown, and a bound leather visor. Features two original small brass General Service eagle side buttons securing a slim chin strap remnant. The interior reveals a brown quilted lining with cross-hatch stitching and an original dark leather sweatband intact. Dimensions: Overall Height: 6.5”. Total Depth (front to back): 10.75”. Visor / Bill Length: 1.5” Interior Opening: 5.5 “ W x 8.25” L. Condition: Fair to Good overall historical condition. Shows visible fabric loss/moth nibbles near the upper rear seam where the body joins the crown disk, exposing underlying material. Some loose stitching along the edge of the leather visor and light thread wear/separation along the sweatband attachment. The wool body retains good color, and the brass eagle buttons display a rich original patina. Please see photos for condition.
