Watervliet Arsenal Belt & Set (4) - A grouping comprising a dark brown leather military belt, measuring 1.75 inches wide by approximately 40.5 inches in length, featuring clear manufacturer stampings for the Watervliet Arsenal alongside inspector initials ”A. A. Smith” and additional interior markings. Brass fixture on one end and brass hook on the other end. The leather belt is in very good and highly pliable condition, showing no breaks, tears, or red rot, while the metallic components display authentic age patina, surface wear, and varying degrees of oxidation consistent with historical militaria and historical display groupings. The set includes three distinct military-style buckle plates, including a stamped brass/lead filled oval ”CSA” plate and two US Army design rectangular brass eagle plates with wreath motifs. Rough casting remnants on one the two examples, which is also stamped “ROK” on back, along with the high percentage of modern made CSA buckles, leads us to believe that these could be modern creations.
