1934 German Labor Day Commemorative Tinnie - 1934 German National Labor Day Commemorative Badge ”Tinnie” (Veranstaltungsabzeichen). Good condition. Following the Nazi Party's rise to power in 1933 the regime co-opted traditional International Workers' Day (May Day) celebrations repurposing 01May as the official state controlled Day of National Work (Tag der Nationalen Arbeit). Independent trade unions were promptly banned and absorbed into the state run German Labor Front (Deutsche Arbeitsfront or DAF). The back of this badge features a stamped manufacturer mark: Reichsverband Pforzheim 22. The inscription translates to the National Association or cooperative of master jewelers and medal makers based in Pforzheim Germany, historically known as tje Goldstadt (Gold City), Pforzheim was the primary hub of the German jewelry and watchmaking industry which was heavily contracted to mass produce civic badges. The number 22 following the city name represents the specific manufacturer within that local cooperative system. 1.5” diameter. Please see photos.
