CDV Washington & Lincoln in Paradise - This CDV is a variation of another example in this auction. It depicts Abraham Lincoln being embraced by George Washington while he is placing a wreath on Lincoln's head. They emerge from the clouds below. Written in ink at the bottom of the front is “Washinton & Lincoln in Paradise” written on the back of the CDV and pencil is “Our country's martyred Lincoln arrives in paradise so blest-Within the arms of Washington, reposing on his breast. Rest, rest there, faithful patriot soul. Your rest is nobly won- So mark of his approval see- The father crowns his son. Bright angel witnesses rejoice- Heaven's arches ring again. Glory to God in heavenly. Peace & goodwill to men. G. H. H.” A wonderful CDV, with a heartfelt prayer written at the time. The CDV is standard size of 2.5” x4”. Please see pictures.
