Zon-O-Phone Model A Disc Phonograph - The Zon-O-Phone Model A was introduced in late 1899 by the Universal Talking Machine Company. The Model A was part of an initial line of innovative machines designed to challenge Berliner's early gramophones. This machine has an original finish pillared corner oak case has beveled glass on both sides. It is powered by spring motor designed by Louis Valiquet. All the plating on the parts is in fair to good condition. The bedplate has both the English and Russian name cast into it and stamped serial No. 45845 making this a late production A. The turntable has been upgraded to a 9”. The reproducer is a V Concert. The machine winds and runs. The back of the case has a metal tag for the Cincinnati Talking Machine Co. The horn is a 24” all brass 11” diameter bell horn in VG condition with a brass elbow and replated thumbscrew. Overall a very nice machine. Measures 9” wide, 10.25” deep,6” tall.
