Edison Amberola Model B1 Cylinder Phonograph - The Edison Amberola 1-B cylinder phonograph was introduced by Thomas A. Edison, Inc. around 1911-1912. Representing the pinnacle of Edison's acoustic cylinder technology, the Amberola integrated the horn directly into a beautiful, high-end cabinet to compete with Victor’s popular ”Victrola” flat-disc players. This Amberola 1-B serial number 4590, features a luxurious, upright floor cabinet crafted from dark mahogany, equipped with three built-in pull-out drawers designed specifically to hold cylinder storage boxes. The 1-B boasts a robust, gear-driven or belt-driven motor with a smooth flywheel mechanism. It was built to play the superior, 4-minute Edison Blue Amberol celluloid cylinders and features a traveling mandrel mechanism that glides underneath a stationary Diamond B reproducer. The mahogany cabinet has been professionally refinished. It sports a rococo-style grill with no chips or breaks. The bedplate paint and gold striping are excellent. The mandrel, reproducer, and horn mount have a copper oxidized finish. All 4 drawers have the metal record clips intact. Winds, runs, and shuts off with adjustable auto stop. On its original casters.
