Bidspirit auction | Graphophone AT Cylinder Phonograph
Graphophone AT Cylinder Phonograph - This is a Columbia Type AT Graphophone first-version, which was produced from 1897 to 1898 and features a unique cabinet with decorative corner pillars, and the distinct Columbia banner decal. Later versions simplified the cabinet. The original finish on the oak case has alligatored and the banner decal is cracking and has some gold loss. The mechanism is cleaner than most with good nickel plating on the bed plate. The pot metal carriage has been rebuilt using machined aluminum. The reproducer is good. Machine winds and plays well. The pot metal horn connector is breaking at the edge. There is no horn included but screw holes on the front of the oak case points toward it having a larger horn and crane. Measures 12” wide, 7.75”deep, 12.5” tall including the lid. From the Trenga collection.
