Edison Cylinder Shaving Machine Cabinet - An antique Edison Cylinder Shaving Machine, serial number 1341, engineered by Thomas A. Edison, Inc. in Orange, New Jersey, with a patent date of August 8, 1905. Housed within a painted wood floor-standing cabinet with top lift-lid, this early office dictation unit features an integrated lower drawer fully compartmentalized and filled with wax dictation cylinders. The upper shaver mechanism, drive rod, and carriage assembly remain attached above an lower compartment housing an electric drive motor with pulley belts. The dark green painted finish on the cabinet shows widespread surface wear, paint chipping, rubbing on edges, scuffs, and grime throughout. Internal mechanical components and electrical motor show moderate surface oxidation, dust accumulation, and age-consistent wear; functionality is untested. H 30.5”, W 19”, D 14”.
