Gustav Heyde Dresden Transit & Tripod - An exceptional late 19th- to early 20th-century scientific surveying instrument by renowned precision maker Gustav Heyde of Dresden, Germany, bearing serial/model number 815. Crafted from painted brass, gunmetal gray housings, fine level vials, and delicate brass adjustment controls, this field set includes the primary transit alidade, its original tall wooden tripod stand, and a fitted wooden transport case featuring brass hardware with stencil lettering ”Bde Direction 815”. The set exhibits expected historical wear throughout, including light paint loss, oxidation to brass surfaces, surface scuffs, and minor handling marks on the wooden tripod legs and storage box, preserving a fine overall aged patina.
