Bidspirit auction | RARE Model Range Electric Fireless

RARE Model Range Electric Fireless Cookstove - This exceptional, early 20th-century ”Model Range” electric fireless cookstove is a rare survivor manufactured by the Electric Fireless Cookstove Co. of Buchanan, Michigan. Crafted with a beautiful quarter-sawn oak cabinet, this innovative appliance combined early electrical heating elements with the heat-retention principles of a traditional fireless cooker, featuring a functional side-folding table top extension and an unlatching upper section with dual metal-lined insulated wells. One side holds a heavy soapstone radiant disc with a removable aluminum platform that plugs into a three-prong internal socket, while the smaller adjacent well contains a round receptacle likely intended for a kettle or meal warming. The integrated backsplash houses a gorgeous ”Electric Fireless” timing clock/gauge, an exquisite vintage blown-glass ”tipless” incandescent indicator bulb, and two distinct American Electrical Heater Co. ceramic/porcelain control switches with heavy fabric-covered wiring and a ceramic connector plug. The extra stone and aluminum accessories can be neatly stored below in the unlocked double-door compartment. Structurally sound, the wooden cabinet exhibits light scuffs, surface scratches, and minor dust accumulation, while the fabric wiring is frayed and unraveled at the connection points; all electrical elements are entirely original and remain untested.
