Bidspirit auction | Antique Central Scientific Co. Vacuum

Antique Central Scientific Co. Vacuum Pump - An exceptional late 19th to early 20th-century scientific laboratory apparatus, this manual vacuum pump was manufactured by the Central Scientific Co. of Chicago, Illinois, as verified by its original brass maker's plate. A gorgeous example of turn-of-the-century technical design, it features a heavy cast iron mechanical arm mechanism, a finely turned mahogany-finished wooden support pillar with matching handle grips, a brass suction cylinder, and a heavy wooden base on raised bun feet. The unit comes complete with an integrated 11” diameter base platform housing a working brass petcock valve and a heavy blown-glass bell jar with a top knob pull. The glass dome remains completely free of chips or cracks, the mechanical lever and plunger operate smoothly with proper suction, and the petcock turns easily. The wood finish shows minor age-appropriate surface wear, minor flaking to the varnish, and expected dust from storage, while the brass and cast iron elements exhibit a beautiful, rich natural patina. H 30.25”, W 25.5”, D 10”. Please see photos for condition. Note: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available Post-Auction.From the Dale Beeks collection.
