Bidspirit auction | Antique Fortin-Type Stick Barometer
Antique Fortin-Type Stick Barometer - This is an exceptional piece of scientific history: an antique Fortin-type mercury stick barometer mounted on a handsome oak plaque, dating from the early to mid-20th century. The instrument features a brass protective housing, an integrated glass thermometer for temperature correction, and a silvered scale with a vernier adjustment knob near the top. At the base sits a cylindrical cistern with an adjustment screw, mounted directly above a vintage paper label from the Scientific Supplies Co. of Seattle, Washington, a known purveyor of laboratory equipment and chemical reagents. Physically, the piece is in good antique condition, showing a beautiful, honest patina and minor oxidation to the brass components, minimal scuffs to the finished wood backing, and intact glass elements, though it is missing its top mounting loop ring. H 43”, W 4.5”, D 3”. Please see photos for condition. Note: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available Post-Auction. From the Dale Beeks collection.
