Antique Bausch & Lomb Microscope Set - This exceptional turn-of-the-century brass and japanned iron monocular microscope set was manufactured by the esteemed Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. of Rochester, New York. The comprehensive kit includes the precision-machined microscope stand with a factory serial number of 56245, two specialized wooden accessory storage blocks, an array of four drop-in eyepieces, and three brass-capped objective lenses (including a 1/6 variant), all resting in its original fitted wooden carrying cabinet complete with an integrated metal transport handle, secure front lock, and the matching key. Visually, the set presents in very good antique condition, exhibiting a rich natural patina across the brass components along with minor, expected lacquer wear and light surface scuffs on the main optical tube, alongside gentle shelf wear on the wooden cabinetry; mechanical focus dials and the stage adjustments rotate smoothly, though the optical clarity remains untested.
