Antique Toy & Demonstration Electric Motor Trio - This fascinating trio of antique open-frame electric motors dates from the late 19th to early 20th century, serving as wonderful examples of early electrical engineering used for educational demonstrations or high-end scientific toys. The lot features three distinct styles, all mounted on their original finished wood bases with integrated brass binding post terminals. The first motor features a classic black-enameled, semi-enclosed cast iron frame with exposed armature and brush mechanics. The center unit is a striking Porter-style or early Lionel-type open-bipolar motor, showcasing exposed field coils wrapped in green-insulated copper wire under a painted grey housing with delicate decorative pinstriping. The third motor presents a compact, enclosed barrel-style design with a cast-iron housing and a pulley wheel for belt-driven accessories. The mounting blocks retain their period-correct screws, wiring paths, and small brass tacks or feet. Each piece shows an authentic, untouched patina consistent with age, including minor paint loss, surface oxidation on the iron and brass components, and light wear to the wooden bases, though the assemblies remain structurally sound and visually complete.
