1910 HMS Worcester Station Pointer Set-Named - An exceptional, historically significant maritime find, this brass station pointer (three-arm protractor) navigational instrument is housed in its original brass-bound mahogany case with a vibrant green felt-lined interior. This superb Edwardian-era naval relic features an engraved brass presentation plaque on the lid, identifying it as a ”Seamanship. First Section. Second Prize” awarded in Midsummer 1910 by The Incorporated Thames Nautical Training College aboard the famous training ship H.M.S. Worcester (Port of London) to cadet Gordon Victor Thomas. Accompanying the instrument are modern scanned copies of Thomas's official, multi-page Royal Naval Reserve (R.N.R.) service records from the National Archives, documenting his subsequent military career as a Midshipman, Sub-Lieutenant, and Lieutenant during World War I, including stellar marks in gunnery and naval training. Objectively, the mahogany case and polished brass components exhibit minor surface scratches, scuffs, edge wear, and expected patination consistent with age and maritime use, while the interior components remain complete with all extension arms, thumbscrews, and adjustment knobs present and in excellent, functional condition.
