Bidspirit auction | Bausch & Lomb Precision Level

Bausch & Lomb Precision Level & Case - This is a museum-quality precision optical level manufactured by the Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. of Rochester, N.Y., circa 1913. Bearing serial number 9724, this instrument dates to the prestigious ”Triple Alliance” era, a short-lived but significant partnership between Bausch & Lomb, George N. Saegmuller, and Carl Zeiss. The level features a high-grade telescope with a signature grey and black enamel finish, integrated spirit levels, and a specialized sighting attachment—hallmarks of an era when B&L set the global standard for geodetic engineering. Included is the original metal transport case, which retains its internal wooden mounting blocks and protective green felt. While the instrument itself is in remarkable vintage condition with clear optics and smooth mechanical adjustments, the metal transport case shows heavy deterioration to its original leatherette covering, which is cracked, peeling, and missing in several areas. No key for lock. H 8.5”, W 5.5”, D 11” Please see photos for condition. From the Dale Beeks collection.
