Heath & Co. Antique Artificial Horizon - This exceptional piece of maritime history is an antique navigational artificial horizon produced by the renowned Heath & Co. of London, England. Used to provide a reliable reflective surface for sextant observations when the natural horizon was obscured, this precision instrument features a triangular black-finished metal frame with two clean glass panels forming a protective roof, its accompanying iron fluid bottle, and the original fitted mahogany transport box complete with brass hook latches and an original diamond-shaped ”Hezzanith” examination label inside the lid. Mechanically sound and visually striking, the mahogany case displays minor surface scuffs, light edge wear, and an aged patina to the brass hardware. The interior instrument shows light paint loss along the edges of the black frame, minor oxidation on the iron bottle, and clear glass panels free of major chips or cracks. H 6”, W 8.75”, D 6”.
