2 B.D. Maxham Daguerreotypes Same Man - a 1/9 plate and a 1/6 plate dag of a well dressed and very handsome young man. The 1/9 plate has a matte stamped B.D. Maxham in VG condition mounted and framed under glass along side an advertisement for Maxham's Daguerrean Palace. The 1/6 plate dag was probably taken the same day and is mounted in a leatherette case with a B.D. Maxham advertisement behind the image. Benjamin D. Maxham (1821–1899) was an American daguerreotypist active primarily in Worcester, Massachusetts, during the mid-19th century Archives at Yale. He is known for producing high-quality daguerreotypes, a photographic process valued for its delicacy, durability, and rich tonal detail. In 1856, his Daguerrean Palace was located at 222 Main Street in Worcester Mass. The frame measures 14.75” tall, 12.75” wide. See photos. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
